Yes, I Still Have a Blog

I have been ignoring my blog. Every time I plan to sit down and write, something comes up. Or I can't think of anything I want to say. My last post was titled 70 Days. Well, now it's been 118 days. 118 days since my accident. I never thought I would get to this point. I'm in my last days of physical therapy and I'm almost at 100%. The RSD is still giving me problems and I have a slight limp when I walk, but otherwise I'm doing great. Oh, I also started driving again. Hallelujah! Not driving was the worst! It really feels good to be back on the road.

So what else has been going on? Well, my husband lost his job. It was really shocking for us. He has been with that company for 6 years and we thought he had a real future there. Guess we were wrong. But the good thing that came out of all of this is that he is soooo much happier now. J used to be so stressed out all the time. It took him a while before he could relax when he got home in the evenings. He was so tense. But now he is back to the lighter, happier person that he once was and I'm LOVING that! I hope this new job that he has ends up being a great career move for him. Even though he is working his way up from the bottom, I'm sure he will reach a higher position in no time.

70 Days

Yes, it's been 70 days since my fall. I thought I would be much better by now, but nothing is ever that simple with me. I guess part of the problem was the doctor I was seeing. He wasn't aggressive enough with his treatment. I found he was always so unsure about what he was doing. And to top it off, he was an asshole. But that's a story for another day. I now have another doctor that was very quick to see and solve the problem. He listened to what I had to say and immediately went into action. It only took the new doctor 5 minutes to diagnose me with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. 5 minutes! He then called another doctor to discuss my condition and within minutes I was whisked away to another office for treatment. There were some ups and downs with my medication. I was told that if these medications didn't work I would have to get injections in my spine to block the nerves in my foot. My fingers are crossed that I won't have to do that. But I think things are finally starting to improve. I started physical therapy and that seems to be helping. It hurts like hell, but I know it has to be done. Hopefully I will be off of the crutches soon and able to start driving again. It's been so hard to get around. I have to depend on friends and family to drive me to and from appointments and work. I know it must be such a pain in the ass, but they are doing so without complaint. I will be forever grateful for their time and kindness. It's during times like these that you know who you can really count on. I'm thankful that I have these people in my life. You know who you are. Thanks! :0)

A Difference of Opinion

My hubby and I got into a heated discussion today about something his friend is doing. Or more to the point, not doing. His friend is not attending his daughter's dance recital because he wants to stay home and watch the World Cup. I think that is such a selfish thing to do. Just DVR the game and go support your daughter. My husband thinks otherwise. J thinks his friend has a right to have a life of his own and not have to attend all of his daughter's activities. This blows my mind! As a parent, you should put your child first. Celebrate and support them in all of there special moments. You can't get those days back. My husband thinks that children need to learn disappointment and not be coddled all the time.

This, my friends, is why we don't have kids.

One Hell of a Mood

Music can sometimes convey everything I feel or want to say. It plays with my emotions and can lift me up or bring me down. Lately, I've taken on this black cloud that just wont go away. Many days I want to shout from the rooftop everything that is dancing on the tip of my tongue. I know it wont solve my problems, but it would make me feel bloody fantastic to do so.

Anyway, in order to maintain my self inflicted gag order, I've taken to cranking this song up; relishing in the way it makes me feel. I'll post the lyrics, but if you want to hear it, you will have to look it up.

"Eyes on Fire" by: Blue Foundation

I'll seek you out,
Flay you alive
One more word and you won't survive
And I'm not scared of your stolen power
I see right through you any hour

I won't soothe your pain
I won't ease your strain
You'll be waiting in vain
I got nothing for you to gain

I'm taking it slow
Feeding my flame
Shuffling the cards of your game
And just in time
In the right place
Suddenly I will play my ace

I won't soothe your pain
I won't ease your strain
You'll be waiting in vain
I got nothing for you to gain

Eyes on fire
Your spine is ablaze
Felling any foe with my gaze

And just in time
In the right place
Steadily emerging with grace

Felling any foe with my gaze
Steadily emerging with grace
Felling any foe with my gaze
Steadily emerging with grace

I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up!

I have to be the biggest klutz ever. Why am I always tripping over things (or nothing) and falling over? I can't count the times I fell down the stairs. I hate stairs! Well, thanks to those fickin stairs I sprained my ankle and broke a bone in my foot. Prefect, right? Ugh! What an inconvenience. I can't drive for God knows how long. Depending on people to get from point A to point B is hella annoying. And I'm sure they feel the same way. Crutches! I loathe crutches. They will be the death of me yet.
So, it's been 10 days since the accident. Things are improving a bit. I find out next Wednesday if there is nerve damage. Yippee! Nerve damage! Fun, fun! In the mean time, I am relying on my new best friend, Lortab, to make it through the night. Without it, I would be a complete mess. It's hard enough hobble through work all day. If I couldn't relax and be pain free at night I don't know what I would do.

Okay, enough whining.

Freebee 5

Lainey from LanieyGossip.com has her version of this. It's a list of the 5 celebrities you could "be with", if you ever got the chance, and it wouldn't be considered cheating. You know, your fantasy one night stand. Now, part of the Freebee 5 is that this has to be a hit and run. No relationship. No strings. Easy enough, right? Wrong! It's hard. Very hard. My 5 change every hour, on the hour. I could never be like Ross from Friends. He laminated his Freebee 5 only to have Isabella Rossellini walk into Central Perk. Unfortunately, she didn't make his final list and that made her off limits.
So, let's see who would make my Freebee 5 list right now. Definitely Herny Cavill. He is my new obsession. Then there's Alexander Skarsgard and Jon Hamm. As for the final 2, I'm having trouble narrowing it down. Maybe Mark Salling. And David Beckham (if he keeps his mouth shut). I don't know! Ugh, it's so hard! If you don't believe me, you should try it. Who would your Freebee 5 be?

Happy, Happy!!

It's the last day of my mini-holiday and I'm not ready to go back to work. It's been a great last couple of days even though I didn't do much. J and I spent some time walking around in New Orleans, just taking the in sights and sounds of the city. I miss living there. I think we will eventually move back. We also spent some time with our Godchildren and that's always fun. We are up to 5 Godchildren. 5!! I wish we could see them more, but time and distance doesn't always allow it. Today we are bringing the Prince and Princess bowling. It's boys against the girls. Team Spiderman vs Team Hello Kitty. It should be an adventure. Prince J said the winner will get a trophy. I said the winner will get a hug. He wasn't happy with my suggestion. We will see what will happen.
On another note, J starts his "new" job tomorrow. Yay!! We are very excited about that. He will be home before 4:30 everyday. That beats getting home at 7:30, huh? I'm happy because now I will have a little help in the cooking department. He can start dinner while I'm at work. I like that idea. A lot! So, help me send good vibes to my hubby. I want him to be happy and successful in his new venture.
Cheers!

It's a Party!!

Tomorrow the Prince and Princess will be celebrating their 5th birthday. 5th!!! It's a movie party. We are all going to the movie theater in Houma to see "How to Train Your Dragon" in 3D. All of their friends, from school and out, will be there. That little party room will be overflowing with 5 year olds. I hope the theater is prepared. It should be a blast!

Books, Books, and More Books

I love to read. It's not often that I'm not reading something. Once upon a time, my bookshelves contained nothing but biographies and autobiographies. Books of history and political thrillers. I thought nothing could be as good as Jane Austen. But over the last couple of years, my bookshelves have been overflowing with something else entirely. Fantasy, Science Fiction, and YA have taken over my life. I've never, in a million years, thought I would be reading such books. I guess JK Rowling and a boy named Harry is to blame. Ever since I read the Harry Potter books, I have opened myself up to a whole new world. A world that has werewolves and vampires, fairies and dragons. And of course, witches and wizards. I love finding new books to dive in to. I just finished reading The Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. The third book in the trilogy comes out in the Fall and I can't wait to see how it ends. Another great trilogy is by Maggie Stiefvater. The first book, Shiver, is beyond fabulous. Linger comes out in 3 months and then lastly, Forever. Shiver is being made into a movie. Yay!!! Just like everyone knows the name Stephanie Meyer, they will know the name Maggie Stiefvater. Trust me.

Enough!!!

Every day I wake up to the sounds of Mike and Mike in the Morning coming from my television. My husband loves that program and will even wake up earlier than necessary just to watch it. I have to admit that it's not so bad. Most of the time they have me laughing at their silliness or really thinking about a certain subject matter. Well today they were talking about Tiger Woods and it made me stop and listen. I have very strong opinions about the whole Tiger situation. Do I think he is an asshole for cheating on his wife? Yes. Do I think he is a sex addict? No. I think he has power issues and he is an egomaniac. He is the Great Tiger Woods and the rules don't apply to him. Whatever! Do I think he owes the public any personal information about what happens between he and his wife? Hell no! That's not my business. Let's leave his wife out of this. She never asked for this attention and I'm sure it makes her skin crawl every time these types of questions are asked. What I want to know is, Why are all these legitimate news sources giving the women that he had affairs with one second of air time? Why are these women being shopped around as victims of Tiger's "addiction"? Why all the interviews? Why all the attention? These types of women crave the spotlight and don't care what they do to get it. Why are we giving them the platform to tell their story? Seriously! Tiger is just a professional athlete! He is not Jesus Christ. Let his wife worry about what hole he's sticking his dick into. Let him get back to what he does best. GOLF!! I hope Tiger comes back with avenges. I want him to win and win big. If his marriage fails, then that's what he gets for being a complete douche. Karma is a bitch. But when it comes to golf, let him do his thing.

Play Ball!!!

I've decided that I will start writing my blog at work. Why? Because they have blocked out all of my favorite sites and I'm rebelling. :0)

So, this weekend I went to Vampire Baseball in NOLA with my two cousins. It was so much fun! At first we were a little upset because there was only one "vampire" scheduled to play, but the wolf pack more than made up for the lack of Cullens.

Chaske Spencer, who plays alpha wolf Sam, was very sweet with the fans. He made sure to spend as much time as he could with everyone. He freely signed autographs (I have one!) and posed for pictures before, during, and after the game. I have a fantastic photo of him. I think we may have imprinted.

Alex Meraz, who plays hot tempered wolf Paul, is beyond yummy in person. He was a constant prankster. He really had a good time dancing and goofing around on the field. Alex also spent a lot of time with the fans. Everyone loved him. He very well may be husband #2.

Tyson Housman, who plays the wolf Quil, is so little. He looks like he's 12 years old. Tyson was kind of shy and didn't interact with the fans much, but he looked like he was having the time of his life.

Daniel Cudmore, who plays the Volturi vampire Felix, is very tall. He's 6'8"! He is also very good looking. He spent a lot of one-on-one time with the fans. Daniel made sure to say a few words to everyone who wanted autographs and pictures. I think that's sweet.

For all the True Blood fans out there, Nelsan Ellis was part of the game. Nelsan plays flamboyant fry chef Lafayette Reynolds. Poor Nelsan looked like he was nursing a pretty bad hangover. We heard that he and some of the guys partied it up the night before. He could barely run the bases, but he did give us a pretty fierce pose when we asked for a picture.

But I think the biggest fan favorite by far was New Orleans Saints kicker, Garrett Hartley. Garrett is adorable! You can tell he loved all of the attention because he was smiling from ear to ear the entire day. My cousin, Courtney, and I got a chance to talk with him for a bit while he signed a couple of footballs for us. He was extremely sweet and gracious. I hope Garrett stays in New Orleans for a while. It will be fun to see how he grows as a kicker.

NOW READ THIS!!!!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/maggiestiefvater/4346151105/" title="Linger Cover Large by Telltale Crumbs, on Flickr">http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2769/4346151105_c6ced14c47.jpg" alt="Linger Cover Large" />In Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. Now, in Linger, they must fight to be together. For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping a very dangerous secret about her own well-being. For Sam, this means grappling with his werewolf past . . . and figuring out a way to survive into the future. Add into the mix a new wolf named Cole, whose own past has the potential to destroy the whole pack. And Isabelle, who already lost her brother to the wolves . . . and is nonetheless drawn to Cole. At turns harrowing and euphoric, Linger is a spellbinding love story that explores both sides of love -- the light and the dark, the warm and the cold -- in a way you will never forget.Comes out in stores everywhere July 20th.
